We Work to Create a Brighter Future for Brain Health

The International Brain Research Foundation (IBRF) is a non-profit organization standing at the forefront of neuroscience. We are absolutely committed to advancing the state of mental health to its highest possible level. We are pioneers in the fight against brain disorders, and we are doing everything in our power to find treatments for these conditions as soon as possible. Our goal is to change the trajectory of neuroscience and bring hope to millions of people around the world.

BRAIN MAPPING

Brain mapping can be effective in discovering emotional disorders like depression and anxiety in the brain.

NEUROFEEDBACK (NF)

Often used for ADHD. Neurofeedback therapy aims to change the way the brain responds to certain stimuli

HOW IS YOUR COGNITIVE HEALTH?

Our approach has been developed through decades of translational clinical research studies carried out by the International Brain Research Foundation, in collaboration with medical centers throughout the world.

CLINICAL INTAKE

A comprehensive review will take place to include the patient’s medical records, clinical history, discuss why treatment is sought, and thoroughly explain how our services may benefit.

FOLLOW-UP

Once all testing has been completed, patients are invited to attend a comprehensive follow-up to thoroughly go over and discuss the results of the testing with a licensed member of our team.

TREATMENT

Based on the findings, an individualized treatment plan is established, then the protocol may begin. Individualized protocols consist of 10-40 visits depending on the nature and severity of the neurological condition.

POST-TREATMENT ASSESSMENT

Once the protocol is completed in its entirety, patients will receive a post-treatment qEEG brain map coupled with neuropsychological testing to quantify treatment-based changes.

Make an impact

Donate to the cause

A lot of people with brain problems feel like they can not find hope. Children with brain injuries from ski accidents, mothers who have a stroke in childbirth, and police officers hit while pulling over drivers for drunk driving… Traditional medicine has often told them that their conditions cannot be cured or fixed. Here at IBRF, we disagree with that point of view. By using cutting-edge brain mapping software in combination with novel therapeutic approaches, we have made the seemingly impossible possible, providing real-world answers.

Despite our breakthroughs, numerous individuals remain deprived of these life-changing treatments. Why? Many insurance policies have yet to recognize the importance and efficacy of our approach.

Your contribution will help us offer real hope, real treatments, and a real chance at a brighter future to those who need it the most. With each donation, we get closer to a world in which everyone, regardless of financial means, has access to cutting-edge brain health treatments.

Save a Soldier Project

The “Save a Soldier” campaign shows how much we care about the brave veterans who have served our country. Keeping in mind the specific difficulties they face, we have developed an intensive 30-day treatment program just for them. Each veteran is thoroughly evaluated before beginning this process to create an individualized treatment plan.

Our immersive therapies, combined with state-of-the-art brain mapping, aim to bridge the gap between trauma and healing. Throughout their stay, we provide continuous support, coaching, and guidance. This is more than medical care; it is our way of showing gratitude and giving our heroes a chance at a new beginning.

What our patients say

Lynell Dekan Loftus

From someone who has experience with the IBRF team of Doctors, I give them 5 stars. IBRF is helping our daughter with the use of nutraceuticals, medications and brain stimulating techniques that I have used on myself, they are NOT painful at all. The doctors are available to us 24/7 via their mobile numbers, and the staff is helpful and compassionate. We are SO grateful that IBRF is stretching the boundaries of the previous knowledge of the brain and its ability to heal.

Christopher Jon Gessel

I was diagnosed with PTSD from the VA in 2007. I dealt with significant memory loss, migraine headaches, and severe mood swings shortly after my last combat deployment in Baghdad. Iraq… I was given a SPECT scan before and after the HBOT, which indicated all the areas of my brain that had healed significantly. After my first HBOT chamber ride, I no longer suffered from the debilitating headaches I was having daily. This was truly amazing to me. I highly recommend this treatment for anyone suffering from TBI, rapidly advancing memory loss, or PTSD.

Melissa Lemets

During my time in the service, I developed several conditions that eventually led to Multiple Sclerosis. The disease had progressed to the point where I was losing all strength and couldn’t walk without assistance. I also experienced difficulties in speaking and struggling with basic tasks. I discovered Dr. DeFina and had the opportunity to receive treatment at the Hyperbaric Services of Palm Beaches.
Dr. DeFina is a renowned neuroscientist and a military man like myself and my husband, which instantly built trust. I am currently halfway through my initial 40 dives, but I can already confidently say I’ve noticed a tremendous reduction in inflammation, although it hasn’t completely disappeared. I have regained some hope for the future and fight every day to overcome this condition. Above all, I am incredibly grateful for Dr. DeFina and his team at the Hyperbaric Services of Palm Beaches. Their expertise and dedication have given me a renewed sense of hope and the strength to continue my battle against MS.

Sergeant Jessica A. Clayton

I received hyperbaric treatment in September and October of 2022. When I started treatment, I felt completely hopeless, my depression was severe and I was struggling with brain fog, chronic pain, and joint stiffness. During the course of treatment my sleep began to improve and I could feel the brain fog lifting. As the brain fog lifted my concentration improved and I began reading books. My pain was greatly reduced and I even began running. Overall, the treatments were life changing for me.  Hyperbaric treatments literally helped my brain heal from the trauma that has been there for nearly 20 years. It is my hope that not only will this treatment be available to all veterans but that it will become the standard and the starting point for healing within the VA system. I am eternally grateful to Dr. DeFina and all the staff who where there with smiles and words of encouragement each and every morning.

Stephen Martin, US Navy Commander (retired)

I am writing on behalf of the incredible work of Dr Philip De Fina in assisting me with my chronic PTSD and TBI from multiple tours as a US Navy SEAL Team member. I have had years of nightmares, depression, anxiety, and post traumatic stress. The DOD and VA gave me multiple prescription medications and psychotherapy support which was not fruitful in dealing with my chronic life debilitating deficits. I was suicidal and dysfunctional with my life and wouldn’t do well with relating to my family and was unable to sleep and rarely ate. Dr De Fina was the last hope for me, and I was very skeptical I could ever change my life and live normally again, however, after a month of intensive treatment and support Dr De Fina’s protocol gave me a new lease on life. l am now living a normal family life, not using alcohol or pain killers and just started a new job which is an amazing feat for me. Dr De Fina saved my life, and I will forever be grateful. I feel his unique approach will help many of our wounded combat veterans and I will be an advocate to assist in getting more of our wounded warriors to him for treatment. He was truly my life saver since I contemplated ending my life multiple times and now, I am living a full and happy life thanks to his incredible work. I am forever indebted to Dr De Fina for saving my life!

Vladimir Lemets

I served with the 1st Cavalry Division in Iraq during the Operation Iraqi Freedom campaign from 2006 to 2008 and 2009 to 2010. Amongst other things, post-separation I was diagnosed with traumatic brain injuries (TBIs). I would go days without being able to sleep or spend entire nights lying in bed, unable to fall asleep. After about 17 session hyperbaric oxygen chamber treatments, I started noticing significant improvements in my sleep patterns. I found myself sleeping like a baby and waking up at more reasonable times, feeling more energetic and refreshed.
Not only did my sleep improve, but my overall mood experienced a positive shift as well. It was truly life-changing for me, as these improvements brought a sense of normalcy back into my life.
Dr. DeFina’s credentials and dedication to the field are truly impressive. As a military veteran himself, who served in Counter Intelligence, he understands the unique challenges faced by the Warfighter community. I am grateful that this help and support are coming from within our own community, as it creates a sense of trust and understanding.
With the combination of Dr. DeFina’s expertise and the Incredible benefits of hyperbaric oxygen therapy, I have been given a new lease on life. I am forever grateful for the support and care I have received from Dr. DeFina, and his team. It has only been about 25 sessions thus far, but I am regaining control of my life and rediscovering the joy and fulfillment that had eluded me for so long.
